Porportion Portraits with Van Gogh (ASAP)















































DISCUSSION: Portraits
What is a portrait?
Have you ever had one made of yourself? Yes, school photo is a portrait
What does a portrait need to be a portrait?
a PERSON!!!
What does a person have on their face?
eyes, nose hair, mouth, ears, eyebrows, cheeks, etc..
What is an ALL STUDENT ART PROJECT (ASAP)?

VAN GOGH
Vincent  van Gogh (30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890)
His work had a far-reaching influence on 20th century art
Known for his  vivid colors and emotional impact. 
Van Gogh did not begin painting until his late twenties
most of his best-known works were produced during his final two years. 
He produced more than 2,000 artworks, consisting of around 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings and sketches. 
His work was a strong influence on the Modernist art that followed. 
Today many of his pieces—including his numerous self portraits, landscapes, portraits and sunflowers—are among the world's most recognizable and expensive works of art.
Known for his paint application creating texture and movement.
He died largely unknown, at the age of 37

Project: Students will create a self portrait on a 2x3 piece of paper to be used in the ASAP
Step1: pencil: Draw a circle for your head
Step2: draw two lines for your neck and some shoulders
Step3: Draw in smaller circles for your 2 eyes
Step4: draw in a nose any shape: triangle, line, L
Step5: draw in your mouth: curved line, circle, oval...up to you
Step6: Draw in your hair in your hair color
Step7: ears, eyebrows, any details head band, etc
Step8: fill in using oils pastels
Step9: don't for get to fill in your background color our pattern
MATERIALS:
                oil pastels
2x3 paper
pencils
